One of the hardest things about representing business owners is when they come to me and say,
0:07
"Parag, my business has been sued and I just don't want to lose everything. I've worked my

entire life to build." And we recently had a case where a client came to us. It was a
0:17
family-owned business. The father had started it and the daughter was helping him further build
0:21
the business. And they were getting sued not just once, but twice. They had two different lawsuits
0:27
in a pretty limited budget where they needed to be able to get out and resolve these cases. So,
0:32
the first one they were being sued by an insurance company where the insurance company was saying
0:37
that my clients owed the insurance company money because the insurance company had paid out some
0:43
settlement amount to a plaintiff because of something my clients had supposedly done wrong. Now,
0:48
usually insurance companies will fight tooth and nail to get every penny they possibly can
0:54
and they refuse to dismiss cases without getting some amount of money. So, with the first case,
1:01
I'm happy to report that we got that case resolved in less than 2 months and ultimately we got it
1:07
dismissed without any payment to the insurance company. So the clients were thrilled and then
1:12
that left one more case and the clients were still concerned because in that case the plaintiff meaning
1:17
the person who had filed the lawsuit was demanding over $400,000 and the clients were having to pay
1:25
out of pocket and they were concerned that it might bankrupt them and their business including
1:30
losing all of their personal assets. So they were like, "Parag, you have to help us." And I'm very
1:36
happy to report in less than three months, we got their insurance company to step in because the
1:43
insurance company was initially denying coverage. They were refusing to step in to cover any of the
1:48
damages or any of the attorney's fees. And my office and I stepped in. We reviewed the
1:53
insurance contracts. We talked to the insurance company and made sure that they covered the
1:59
clients. And we also made sure that the insurance company knew what would happen if they continued
2:04
to deny coverage to our clients who should have been protected. And ultimately, I'm very happy
2:09
to report the clients did not have to declare bankruptcy and in fact they've got insurance
2:15
coverage on a claim where they were convinced they wouldn't be able to get it. And the company
2:21
is still in business and the father and daughter are still working together. And this is one of the
2:25
many reasons why I love what we do here. If you want to take a look at what the client had to say
2:30
instead of just taking my word for it, take a look in the description below. I'll include a link.
