Position Overview:

As a Paralegal at LawPLA, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our attorneys, our clients and contributing to the overall success of the firm. Your role will manage and support matters through the entire case life cycle, including conducting legal research, managing the discovery process, drafting of legal documents, maintaining organized case files and preparing cases for trial. Because of the thoroughness and accuracy needed for this position, the individual in this role will need to be detail-oriented, organized, be able to work independently, as well as someone who can thrive in a fast-paced legal setting.

This is a full-time, remote position and we welcome applications from individuals located in different countries who are committed to service and excellence. Responsibilities:

  • Assist attorneys in the preparation, organization, and management of legal documents related to cases.
  • Enter statute of limitations into Firm’s Case Management Software, calendar, and Click-Up.
  • Deadlines and hearings entered into Firm calendar and Click-Up.
  • Proofread, file, e-file, and coordinate service of documents.
  • Collect all information from clients as needed, communicating with them about case status and deadlines as needed or requested.
  • Conduct legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law, as well provide analysis to support case strategy, responses and preparation for trial.
  • Maintain and organize case files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of information.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to create concise and well-formatted legal documents.
  • Manage the discovery process, including gathering, reviewing, and organizing relevant documents.
  • Assist in trial preparation by organizing exhibits, witness materials, and other trial-related documents.
  • Collaborate with Client Service to communicate with clients, opposing counsel, adjustors, and vendors as needed, providing updates on case progress and addressing inquiries, including directly if necessary.
  • Assist with legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling, docketing, maintaining calendars, including deadlines, coordinating meetings, depositions, and other legal proceedings.
  • Other duties as assigned or needed.

Qualifications:

  • Professional or legal degree for paralegal or lawyer or country equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of California personal injury litigation experience.
  • Proven experience in a legal or administrative role, preferably in a professional services environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in office software and applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new CRM systems.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced remote work environment.
  • Professional demeanor, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a remote team.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary of $1,600 – $1,900 USD per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Opportunities for incentive compensation based on individual and team achievements.
  • Vacation and paid time off policy to support work-life balance after probationary period of 90 days is completed.
