Position Overview:
We are in search of an experienced and knowledgeable Civil or Business Litigation Attorney to join our seasoned legal team. In this position, you will be responsible for managing complex business litigation and employment defense cases. Your proficiency in drafting and responding to discovery, conducting depositions, and civil trial experience will be pivotal in securing optimal outcomes for our clients. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the firm's principal to formulate legal strategies, work on cases collaboratively, and ensure outstanding results for our clients.
In this position, you'll have the backing of a seasoned support team, but it's not a role where you can learn as you go. You need to be ready to hit the ground running, bringing prior expertise and the ability to handle tasks like litigation, discovery, and beyond with little oversight from day one.
This position is remote and requires you to be licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of California.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage caseload including conducting legal research, analysis, and case strategy development
- Draft and answer discovery requests including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission
- Conduct/defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses
- Draft and argue motions including motions for dismissal and motions in limine
- Engage in settlement negotiations and employ alternative dispute resolution methods as needed
- Offer legal counsel to clients regarding potential risks and strategies associated with litigation
- Team up with colleagues and support staff to deliver excellent legal services
Education and Experience:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the California State Bar with a clean disciplinary record
- Minimum of three years of experience practicing law, with a specific focus on business litigation and/or employment defense
- Track record of drafting and responding to discovery, taking and defending depositions
- Strong knowledge of civil procedure, evidence, and substantive law in the areas of business litigation and employment defense
- Outstanding research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and oral communication abilities
- Proven ability to efficiently handle multiple cases and consistently meet deadlines
- Solid organizational skills coupled with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment
Compensation:
$50-$100 hourly DOE
