Ryan Bailey – Of Counsel

Ryan Bailey has been a civil litigator in California for many years, with a reputation for careful and effective legal writing.

After two years writing decisions for trial judges at a state trial court, he represented businesses and individuals in a very broad civil practice at a respected regional law firm in Santa Cruz County, for both plaintiff and defendant clients.

In 2021, he made the switch to freelance, helping small firms with their cases in primarily business litigation, US immigration, real property and land use, consumer protection, and estate litigation.

In law school, he was a lead editor of the Journal of Public Law and the president of the Energy, Environment, and Resources Society. Consistent with his long history of public service, he spent a year after law school assisting his county district attorney enforcing environmental and consumer protection statutes against violating businesses.

His undergraduate degree was in journalism, after which he was the copy editor of a bilingual Arizona newspaper. More recently, he revived and managed the Monterey County Bar Association’s attorney magazine for several years as a member of the Association’s board of directors.

He is fluent in Spanish, and lives with his wife and children in Ireland.
